Cedar House Investments help build brighter future for college

27th April 2010

Cedar House Investments, one of the region’s most proactive developers, has been appointed as development partner for the redevelopment of the Brooksby Melton College site in Melton Mowbray.

The Pride Park-based company will be working alongside the College governors and master planners to take the project forward and develop its existing assets to enhance the teaching and learning facilities for the College and its students.

The company will draw upon its extensive regeneration development experience working on successful regional projects such as the Phoenix Centre and Ng2 in Nottingham, Pride Park in Derby and Waterside Park in Ashbourne.

The planned redevelopment of the Melton Campus will involve a retail development, which will act as a catalyst to bring forward the College’s campus redevelopment proposals. The scheme will comprise a 40,000 sq ft supermarket and include the refurbishment of the Melton theatre, which includes a state-of-the-art performing arts academy.

Commenting on the redevelopment plans, Chris Ball, College Principal, said:

“We are delighted to have a well known and respected development partner in Cedar House Investments Ltd to realize our objective of developing a new and improved College that will see long term benefits for the people of Melton and the Vale of Belvoir for years to come.”

Chris Carlisle, managing director of Cedar House Investments Ltd, added:

“We are delighted to have been appointed as the College’s partner for this exciting redevelopment scheme. The project will facilitate further investment within Melton town centre and helping to underpin the town’s retail offer. A planning application will be submitted shortly.”

With a portfolio totalling more than £75 million, Cedar House Investments remains at the forefront of the property development industry and its diverse schemes have attracted many high profile businesses.

It includes high profile sites in Ashby, Rugby, Northampton, Corby, Tamworth and Stoke-on-Trent, along with the redevelopment of the 35 acre former Nestlé site in Ashbourne.

The company won the title of Commercial Developer of the Year at the East Midlands Property Dinner and Property Company of the Year at the 2009 regional Estates Gazette Awards.
